Prices are the entry list prices each vendor publishes on its own US pricing page, read on Oct 27, 2026. They exclude taxes, payment processing unless stated, hardware, add-ons and negotiated discounts; a promotion appears only in the notes, labeled as one. Prices change. No vendor paid for a place or a price in this table.

This pair is less a head-to-head than a fork in the road. Zoho Inventory is positioned for small businesses handling inventory and orders within the Zoho ecosystem. Fishbowl is positioned for inventory and manufacturing workflows that run alongside an accounting system the company already has. One is about joining a suite; the other is about building things without giving up your books.

Verdict: Zoho Inventory, unless you make what you sell

If your business buys finished goods and sells them, and especially if Zoho already handles invoicing or customers, we pick Zoho Inventory. In our reading it asks less of a small team: fewer operational dependencies, a familiar environment, and no separate manufacturing layer to maintain.

Fishbowl is the right answer for a company where production or assembly is a weekly reality, with components to stock, work to schedule and finished goods to account for, and where the accounting system is staying put. In that business, in our view, Zoho Inventory's suite convenience does not make up for Fishbowl's manufacturing focus.

Why Zoho Inventory wins for resellers

In our view, the bulk of a reseller's inventory work happens around orders: quoting, confirming, shipping, invoicing and reordering. A product that keeps that chain inside one ecosystem reduces the copy-and-paste between apps that small teams quietly suffer. Zoho Inventory's published scope is built on that idea. In our view it is not the place to look for deep manufacturing planning or highly specialized warehouse execution; if either matters, confirm it with Zoho in a trial before relying on it.

The weakness is the flip side of the strength. Outside the Zoho world, its main advantage fades, and a reseller not using Zoho apps should compare it against stock-first tools rather than assume the suite is a bonus.

Why Fishbowl wins for makers

A maker's hard problems are upstream of the sales order. Which components are on hand, which are committed to a build, what the finished goods cost, and how all of that lands in the books. Fishbowl's positioning brings manufacturing and inventory together while leaving the accounting system in its current role, which suits a company that has invested in its accounting setup and does not want an inventory project to disturb it.

That depth carries a cost in setup and ownership. Fishbowl is not the tool for a team that prizes minimal configuration and few dependencies. Someone needs to own the boundary between operations and accounting after launch.

A middle case

Some resellers assemble kits or do light customization. If that work is occasional and simple, in our view it does not justify Fishbowl, and Zoho Inventory remains the lighter choice. If assembly consumes scarce or expensive components and a mistake stops shipments, treat it as manufacturing and lean toward Fishbowl even if volumes are small.

The deciding test

Count last month's orders that required building, assembling or converting a product before it shipped. If there were none or almost none, choose Zoho Inventory. If those orders were routine, and your accountant wants the books to remain where they are, choose Fishbowl and plan who will own its configuration.
